Well I got involved with metal detecting because of my son years ago with this.
A Bounty Hunter (BH) Treasure Hunter. Two knobs. One was for on and sensitivity and the second choose the mode of operation All Metal or Discriminate. The more you cranked up the Discrimination the fewer types of metal it would pick up (in theory) and the more you cranked the sensitivity the the deeper it would search (again in theory). I was fun but as usual we lost interest. Until recently when we went camping and I got it out and looked over the sites after the other campers had left. That lead to a resurgence of interest on my part which led to this.
A Minelab X-Terra 70! Now it is more complicated but alot more Fun! The son is now in college and thinks MDing is weird. More for me weeee!
Ok the reason I got this page going was to help get Metal Detectorists from my area together and do some hunts together. I am on Tresurenet.com with a couple of other guys in the area and we need more members in a little group we started. Yep you guessed it. The Upper East TN / SW VA Metal Detectives.
Now one problem is that you have to be a member of treasurenet to join the group there. So what I want to do is make this page a kind of portal so non-treasurenet people can participate in any hunts, research. Now how this works is that if you want to contact the group just put a comment on this page and I will get it and pass it on to the group. Now If you leave a comment leave me away to get back to you, say an email address. That way everyone can stay on the forum they like but yet communicate with people in this area. Now we will be putting this on the group page so if you follow the link above (click the name of the group) you will be magically transported right to the groups page and will be able to see the discussions and hopefully any plans for any up coming hunts. So do you think this will work?? who knows but let's try it.
Well if you followed the link you know what I found out as well. Treasure net requires that you be a member to see the groups. What a bummer, but if you really are interested in Metal Detecting you need to be on a forum any way so join Treasure Net and get in to a group like ours.
How do yo like the ML?
ReplyDeleteIs there an active club in the tri-cities area? I live in Colonial Heights and would like to meet up with others and maybe learn a bit. I have a AT Pro but am having difficulties learning how to use it. I have some trash and a few pennies, but that is it.
ReplyDeleteDang. Apparently left out contact info. My name is James and I can be reached via email at Pelzer187@gmail.com. Thanks.
